30.1.19- Reception loved playing in the snow today. They told us "it feels all crunchy under my feet", "it's sooooo cold!" and "it's like Frozen". They decided to all go inside for a warm and to sing 'Do you want to build a snowman?'.

We have had a lovely week back in school, children have enjoyed returning to music with Lily. We have learnt a new song 'Engine, engine' maybe you could ask your child if they could sing it for you and even teach you the actions! Reception have been learning all about Supertato, in our class this week we had an evil pea visit, but don't worry Reception have made sure that the evil pea will not want to return! Children decoded words with their phonic knowledge and did an excellent job. In maths this week we ordered numbers 1-10, children used the numicon city to help them do this. At home you could do this with your child too by writing numbers 1-10 in the wrong order and asking your child to arrange them. Reception love becoming Captain Problem Buster so I'm sure this will be no problem for them. We are so proud of all the wonderful stories and ideas that the children have come back to school with after their Christmas holidays, they are becoming more and more independent and we are so happy to see them grow, explore and develop in their learning.

Reception have been learning all about alternative fairy tales. This has led to some very strange things happening in our classroom! We have had a visit from the Big Bad wolf who turned out to be a very lovely Wolf! We have even made some magic porridge, we left our porridge out on Wednesday night and when we came back into school on Thursday it had been eaten by someone! This led to us becoming Captain Problem Busters and investigating who ate our porridge! After many hours of hard work, reception received a wonderful letter from the Elves, they had been watching our classroom through our Santa Cam! It turned out that Mr Parker was very hungry and decided to eat our porridge! We were also very lucky to have a visit from Rose Crossland, this educated reception all about road safety, we really enjoyed this visit!

"Wow, the little boy looked at me!"

"I was so happy and excited when I saw the giants. I saw the doggy so I was really excited. I was doing a gorgeous smile!"

Reception loved watching the giants walk past our school. As it was their final visit to Liverpool, all of the children burst into song to wish them a fond farewell.  Afterwards, we talked about how we felt when we saw the giants and what our favourite part of their visit was. "I liked the doggy cause he was looking at me."

Last week Reception became Captain problem busters as they were investigating and solving how the giant got into our classroom and took all our crayons! The crayons really did quit and the giant decided that he would take them with him! We carried out lots of measuring through comparing out feet next to the giants big foot print that he left in our classroom! Finally we found a big bus ticket that said the giant had arrived out our school on Thursday!

We all then ventured upstairs and got to see the giants pass out school-how lucky are we! The children were so brave making this journey upstairs to see the giants walk passed our school. Were so proud of them! Reception though that the giants didn't look so big after all from upstairs!
