Learning through the creative and performing arts
Choir
At LIPA we love singing - in class, out at play, and in our choirs and singing clubs.
We have a junior choir club (years 2 and 3) where we explore our voices by playing singing games. The children confidently sing rounds and other two-part songs, as well as learning call and response songs which give them the chance to sing solo and lead the group.
The senior choir and clubs (years 4-7) focus more on singing technique and learning different techniques and styles. The children sing in 3 and 4 parts, building up harmonies and learning to blend their voices. They also develop their confidence and improvising skills through solos. We sing a broad range of repertoire, including gospel, soul, funk, folk, pop, and musical theatre.
All singing groups are led by Rachael Diop, who has been singing and leading choirs of all ages for nearly twenty years. She has B.Mus. from Goldsmiths College in London and a PG Diploma in Music Education from The Kodaly Institute in Hungary.
