Learning through the creative and performing arts
Creative and Performing Arts
At LIPA High School, our Musical Theatre club represents an opportunity for combined arts practise. Pupils work with a SoMi Academy professional on a Tuesday after school, developing all performance disciplines in an interactive and engaging way.
Our Choir rehearse on a Wednesday and have many singing opportunities throughout the year. Singing is a great way to make friends, build confidence and express yourself musically.
We are extremely fortunate to have an Artist in Residence at the school and they host arts sessions every Friday after school which are open to all pupils. They also work on Arts Council-funded projects as well as benefiting from additional workshops and creative experiences.
Sports
We are able to use the Liverpool City College for our sports provision at the school. On a Tuesday morning we run a boys’ basketball club and on a Wednesday morning a girls’ netball club. The sessions are fun, energetic and a fantastic opportunity to develop leadership, team working and other interpersonal skills.
Our running club is an extremely popular club and meets on a Wednesday morning before school. The children take part in competitions all across Liverpool and can often be seen sprinting past the Albert Dock.
Independent Learning
We make available computers and other resources so that pupils have the opportunity to complete their homework in school. This club is on a Tuesday after school, is optional and is a drop in, meaning you do not have to attend every week or for the full hour.
