Whilst internet safety is always a priority, it has been brought to our attention recently in the news about why this is completely necessary and the importance of preparing our children to react appropriately when using the internet, particularly YouTube at this time.
I have attached an information sheet about this and also wanted to draw your attention to our Computing Curriculum and how we are preparing our children to be Digital Learners, with support from the UKCCIS Framework, throughout their education:
The link to the UKCCIS Framework is: https://www.gov.uk/government/groups/uk-council-for-child-internet-safety-ukccis#ukccis-publications
UK Council for Child Internet Safety (UKCCIS) - GOV.UK
The UK Council for Child Internet Safety (UKCCIS) was a group of more than 200 organisations drawn from across government, industry, law, academia and charity sectors that work in partnership.
The eight aspects of online education that we focus on in school from EYFS to Y6 can be seen below. The framework is ordered from what children should know aged 5 up to age 18 in order to be well equipped to work safely in a digital world. These include:
1. Self-image and Identity
2. Online relationships
3. Online reputation
4. Online bullying
5. Managing online information
6. Health, wellbeing and lifestyle
7. Privacy and security
8. Copyright and ownership
