On Wednesday, the final Reception group took part in our Eco Project at The Oratory. We thought about the importance of having green spaces in our city. We also made observational drawings of flowers and took our drawing outside to The Oratory where we made rubbings and sketched our environment.
All of the Reception children have thoroughly enjoyed participating in the Project at The Oratory. We loved finding about our school Eco Code and why it is so important to look after our world. During our sessions, the children all created their own sketches and artwork. Our Artist in Residence, Jayne Seddon, was so amazed by the quality of our work and she would like to include them in an exhibition that she is developing in art gallery and during 'Light Night' which is taking place at The Oratory on May 18th. We will pass on more information about these events nearer to the time.
We have been so proud of our Reception children throughout this experience. They have demonstrated such enthusiasm towards the project and have shown a real love of learning.
Yesterday, Julie Simpson from Autism Adventures came to school to lead an assembly. She explained what autism was and how it can make somebody feel. The children thought about supporting different football teams and how they are all still friends. Julie gave us some flags for our classrooms to show that we support people with autism.
Autism Awareness Month is in April - are you doing anything to show that you are aware of autism?

Thank you for your co-operation in this.
We celebrated World Book Day today. We had a great day and the costumes were amazing! We raised money to buy books for children who did not have any. Thank you so much to all of the children for taking part and for the amazing effort you put into your costumes... even baby Leo got involved at home!
Thursday 1st February is Time to Talk Day.
It's easy to think there's no right place to talk about mental health. But the more we talk about it, the better life is for all of us.
Too many people with mental health problems are made to feel isolated, worthless and ashamed. Time to Talk Day is a chance for all of us to be more open about mental health - to talk, to listen, to change lives.
Wherever you are - at home, at work or up the top of a mountain! - have your conversation about mental health this Time to Talk Day
We will be doing some work around this in school, both children and staff, and we hope you can take part too! The website is https://www.time-to-change.org.uk/get-involved/time-talk-day-2018 for more information.
